Well I fooled with it yesterday, not sure what I did to get this result, fucking dumb luck, but I had the recovery option this morning and used it. It is fucked but that is 9.10s problem (root terminal with networking wants a "root" password).
Did a CLI login with startx and got in. Had to use CLI to reboot because the only option was still "hibernate".
Tried normal boot and it worked!!!!!! Happy Happy Stoned
